“I can’t find the word for the emotion, but I recognize this feeling. It’s time to reset, recalibrate, and most importantly - reinvent.” - via my Instagram
If this resonates with you, it’s time. Your next life is calling and it’s time to answer. As someone who has rebranded their life a few times (and is about to do it again), I’d like share the main lesson I’ve learned.
People care less than you think.
I know, I know. You’ve been at this company for this long, you and your (toxic) significant other already put down the wedding deposit, you’re a second semester college junior who has already committed so much time and money to a major that you’re good at but hate (get me). What will people think if you decide that you no longer want this for yourself? Surely, they will judge you for investing so much energy into something and just…quitting?
#NewsFlash - Not really. Most people have too much going on in their own lives to be so invested in yours. And the ones who are watching are probably inspired, whether they admit it or not.
We live in a time where following your dreams and not caring what others think (to an extent) is true, but trendy. Because in reality, most of us do value others’ opinions. A huge part of that is rooted in the fact that we think they’ll have so much to say about our decisions, but I’m here to remind you that they don’t care #respectfully. Not in the way you think at least. Not in the way that should keep you from making that cross country move. Not in the way that should keep you from leaving that friend that means you no good in the past. Not in the way that should stop you from starting that book club. Simply put, not in the way that should keep you from creating the life you want and KNOW you’re suppose to have.
To be clear, I’m not talking about moving reckless and making impulsive decisions. I’m talking to that feeling that you can’t shake. That feeling of dissatisfaction that craves something more. That feeling of ownership over your life instead of living the unfulfilled dreams of someone else’s. The feeling of intuition.
There’s so much more to be said, (because I also want to emphasize that I’m not saying ignore the counsel of those around you), but I’ll save that for later. This was a quick little message to myself and to the girls that get it. If that’s you, this is your sign. Get to it, girlfran.
